Goin' To the Library!

Greetings all! Once again, I went to the library with my nearest and dearest friends Kayla and Paige, and stocked up on a new batch of books and more importantly- CDs!!! So without further adieu, let's get started!

1.) The Strokes- First Impressions of Earth

I love the Strokes, so when I saw this, I had to pick it up. Although I would have to say I prefer their earlier album Room On Fire, this one is still good because it includes songs like "You Only Live Once", which is definitely  one of the best songs the Strokes have ever made, "Razorblade" and one of my favorites, "On the Other Side". 12/14

2.) The Police- Every Breath You Take

I like this band because of my dad so, yeah some of you out there might think it's "fogy", but whatever cuz me gusta!!! My favorite songs on this album are "Roxanne" (of course) and "Can't stand Loosing You". 10/14

3.) Daughters of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

I haven't actually started reading this book yet, but it looks good! I mean how could a book with a feather mask on the cover not be good?!

4.) The Girl With the Steel Corset by Kady Cross

Even though this book is a tad bit cheesy, (they pretty much ripped off of Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde and everyone just happens to have superhero-like powers), I still can't stop reading! It's really good! So basically, this girl Finley, lives in the late 1800s and when she gets scared or angry, she turns into this super strong, evil version of herself.

I'm excited, I just ordered my favorite author, Libba Bray's new book The Diviners off of Amazon! I can't wait for it to come, but when it does I'll tell you about it.

Catch up

Hey guys I don't really know what this post is going to be about yet but I feel like I really should talk to you so here it goes.
1.) The weather is getting better. hahaha no its not! Well, I mean it doesn't feel like it, but yeah it is cooling down.

*caw caw, caw caw*

. . . or not. Or maybe it's the fact I had to run a mile in PE today, while this one girl started yelling out my name  every time I wanted to slow down!!!!

Me and Kayla are going to be twins on twin day!

We'll do you proud Fred and George!

Ok, post over. Now, I will return to my homework! Bye!

Random dom dom

Hello readers! This post doesn't have specific theme it's just going to be me going on random, albeit entertaining tangents.

1.) The Heat
Ok, first of all I cannot believe I complained that it was hot at 83 degrees a few weeks ago! It was 91 degrees yesterday. 91.  I am not having fun in the freakin sun!!!!

2.) Autumn
So if you read my last post, you'll remember I already bought fall themed stuff for my room. Even though it's really hot I . . .  well I bought more.  Yeah!  But seriously what is wrong with me? And where did I get all of this money anyway?

Pier One Pumpkin Votive Holder

Jack-o'-Lantern String Lights

Bath and Body Works Wallflower in Apple Crumble

3.) The Killers streamed their new album Battle Born on itunes. Just to let you know so that you don't have to listen to it-it's bad.

4.) I just checked out Gone With the Wind from the library! I'm really excited because Gone With the Wind is one of my favorite movies ever and now i get to read the book it was based on! Woooooooooohoo!

As God as my witness, as God as my witness, I will never be hungry again!!!!

And that's all folks!

Autumn Fun!

Ok, I'll admit it, when it comes to Halloween, I celebrate way too early! But ya know what? Honey badger don't care! Oh Autumn, my favorite season. I don't know what it is. Maybe it's the various fall themed candles available at this time of the year, the pumpkin chai latte at Starbucks, maybe it's the fact I can wear my cute flannel pajamas without dying from the heat or the fact that it's an actual, viable time to say "I ain't afraid of no ghost"!
Sorry I couldn't resist. I went shopping.

Leaves 4 oz. Small Candle - Slatkin & Co. - Bath & Body Works

Creamy Pumpkin Hand soap

OPI nail polish in meet for drinks

Actually it doesn't seem like I bought a lot of stuff when I write it down . . . Oh, well. I can't wait to start decorating! I'm going to try to hold off until next week, but we'll see!

Library Haul

So chances are if you've ever been to the wide world of you tube, you've had the honor of watching a "haul"video. Hauling is when girls go to stores, buy a ton of crap, and then talk for at least twenty minutes describing each item they purchased in excruciating detail. Sounds like all anyone could ever hope for right? Ha. Ha.
I AM into makeup and "girly stuff", but seriously, just tell me what you bought and then finish.
So you're probably wondering, "if you hate hauling so much, why are you making a post about it then?" My answer is this: duh THIS haul isn't boring. It's about CDS which are awesome and I won't talk about each one forever.
Watching those boring haul videos gave me this idea. Whenever I go to the library, I usually get around five CDS and maybe 2-3 books. This way, in these posts, I can review each thing I got so you can know which things to AVOID and which things to RUN LIKE THE WIND FOR.  Here's my first CD starting . . . now!!!

1.) The Dandy Warhols, Thirteen Tales from Urban Bohemia

8/13 - - - > this is how many of the songs I liked. I heard of this band because their song "We Used To Be Friends" is the theme song of Veronica Mars (Best show ev- ah which I coincidentally also checked out at the library when I was watching the series.) The Dandy Warhols I would say are kind of rock mixed with pop, but on this album they sounded more dreamy. My top three favorite songs: Bohemian Like You, Solid, and Nietzsche.

2.) Selena Gomez and the Scene, When the Sun Goes Down

2/12  Hey don't judge me for listening to a Selena Gomez CD! Well, I tried it, but it was too poppy for me. I only liked "I Love You Like A Love Song" and "Bang Bang Bang".

3.) Kaiser Chiefs, Off With Their Heads

9/11 This one was my favorite! Get this CD right away, it's really good! RUN! I can't even tell you my favorite song on this album because they're all really good!

4/5.) Gnarls Barkley, St. Elsewhere and The Odd Couple

I thought I would like one of these albums because I liked the song "Crazy" and I knew Cee Lo Green was in this band and I liked "Forget You". I could tell the songs were well done, but it just isn't the type of thing I would like to listen to usually.

6.) KEANE, Perfect Symmetry

I decided once again not to put down how many songs I liked on this album because I really didn't like any of hem. I decided to check this album out because my friend Paige likes Keane a lot and because I like their song "Somewhere Only We Know", but I didn't like this one so much because it sounded really poppy. I looked it up online and a lot of people said they didn't like this album because Keane decided to try something new for this album. My library also had their other album Under the Iron Sea so I think I'll check that one out next time.

Those were all of my albums! I encourage you to go to your library and just check out a lot of CDs from a lot of bands even if you don't know them very well because you get to listen to a lot of different kinds of music. Also, it helps to go with a friend because they can suggest things for you or tell you if something is bad or not. Although it's a lot of work to listen to all of the different songs and figure out which ones you like and don't like (6 CDS is like 60 songs if each album only has 10 songs) it's worth it when you find one that you really like.

Also here's the books I checked out:

7.) Wither (Chemical Garden series) by Lauren DeStefano

8.) Glass Houses (Morganville Vampires series) by Rachel Caine

That's it! And remember . . . .

HEAT WAVE!!!

Today is hot. Actually this whole WEEK has been hot! Instead of doing the cool girl thing and going outside to tan, I've been hiding in the lukewarm shelter of my room. Right now, I'm lying in front of my fan and avoiding any movement, like a fattie. Like a pale, untanned fattie. Now I'm pretty sure most of you don't live under glass domes, so 83 degrees doesn't seem so bad. But for us in southern california, you might as well as be in death valley.

I'd rather be . . .

1.) Stalking Hugh Jackman in Australia (it's winter there)
2.) Swimming in a root beer float
3.) Crocheting in Antarctica
4.) Be a human Popsicle
5.) Riding a dolphin

Why you be up in my grill?

Hey all, so for those who have already read my previous post; I knew Ryan Lochte was too perfect! So today on my usual rounds of stalking, I stumbled upon something strange! Ryan wears grills! What  is a grill? Well, behold

That's diamond encrusted people. Geez Ryan, didn't anyone tell you that was tacky? Holy flamboyancy, batman!

You can't see it very well, but this grill has stars and stripes on it. This does not make me proud to be an American. I mean that is weird right? It's not just me? Whatever Ryan, you wear that grill, and you be proud!!! Next up, on a completely different note, is a kind of stupid, but amusing youtube video!

"What? This is Cuh-razy! . . .  Yeah!" Alright so I admit, a lot of this has gross guy humor  (I mean, hello look at that Oishi's outfit! Sexism!), but a lot of it is soooo funny, it makes up for the annoying grossness.
Also, here's another video, but it's really creepy so don't you know . . . I don't know. Just watch!!!

You better pay up, a girl's gotta eat, el cheapo! And to add to that creepiness, here's a picture I took last night.

Ooooh, spooooky! Ok, well bye, bye!

Ooh La La . . .

Yesterday, I was innocently watching the Olympics. In fact, I didn't even want to watch it because swimming was on. I mean seriously, boring! I didn't want to watch a bunch of guys going back and forth, back and forth in the water until someone finally won and got a medal I didn't even care about. But I watched anyway because I was bored and there was nothing else to do. I was shocked however, to find myself completely interested in the games. I couldn't stop watching. I was entranced. Why you ask? Because I have just found out the reason the Olympics have survived for thousands of years! The Olympics has the hottest guys alive!!!!

I mean seriously, look at that! Look at it! That my friend is a mister Ryan Lochte. And he won the hackin gold medal. Break me off a piece of that!

Swoon!

Well, after a while the swimming portion of the games was over. *sigh* The announcer guy said that men's gymnastics was next. "Men's gymnastics?" I asked "Like the male equivalent of those tiny, super flexible girls who do cartwheels and back-flips? No, thank you!" But like I said I was bored . . .  so I watched anyways. And flips and cartwheels are not what these guys do. They do this thing called the pommel horse. "But Kyra, the pommel horse? Like ponies? That sounds uber girly, I'm out." you might say. Wrong-o kids! Watch this clip and you will soon understand.

See how strong they have to be? See how much upper arm strength? It's amazing how they can do that! Incredible! So freakin cool!

So first we have Sam Mikulak

Danell Levya

Awww and he has a lucky towel!!! :) I haven't gotten this excited about sports since men's figure skating back in the the 2010 winter Olympics.  Go Evan!!!

Yep, so that's it!!! And don't forget to watch the Olympics tonight! Woman's gymnastics will be on!!! Buh- Bye!

Me Likey

1.) My brand spanking new notebook by Anna Sui!

I bought it from this place called Pharmaca by my house. It's amazing. Pharmaca is like a Henry's on steroids. They're all about being "healthy" and "organic", but they also have candles, fancy soaps, all natural makeup (kind of an oxymoron), magazines, exotic teas, chocolates, ipod covers  and notebooks! In summary, it's pretty much my dream store, and I could probably stay there all day. Anyways, I've been wanting this notebook for a while and I finally broke down and bought it today! Ahh it's so pretty!
Yeah, as you can tell,  I'm one of those nerdy writer chicks who always gets excited over new notebooks.
"Writer girl to . . . THE RESCUE!!!"

2.) Flower shop
This is the best scent ever. I am addicted. Flower shop is this candle at bath and body works and it smells so good! My room always has to smell like flowers now.

3.) Sweetarts. They're sweet. They're tart. What's not to like?

4.) Josie Maran  tinted moisturizer. This is perfect for girls who want an even skin tone, but hate to cake on a  ton of foundation and concealer. It's (duh) moisturizing and has an SPF of 30! Yay!

Josie Maran - Tinted Moisturizer

5.) Batman

6.) Gossip Girl. I just can't stop watching this show. I'm only on season two via netflix, but I love the fashion and the drama. Whoohoo go Chuck and Blair! Boo Dan, I hate you!

7.) Tea!!!  Nothing like a good old Chai Tea Latte!!!

Will you marry me?

My second favorite tea that's not a latte would be Tazo Organic Apple Red from Henry's. It tastes like cinnamon caramel apples. Yummy!!!.

How to be "Hip"

Now a days, it's grown increasingly difficult to understand the conversations of America's youth. Is "sick" good or bad? Is it still hip to say "gnarly"? Will it sound retro to use the word "groovy" in sentence, or will you come off as trying too hard? Here are some happenin' phrases I have collected to immediately make you sound 10x more dopealicous.

-"Do you need napkin? Cuz you just got served!"
Best used after an insult, such as: "The day of your birth is an international day of mourning. . . (give a pause to let that sink in) . . .You just got served!" Note: this can be switched with "Do you want an icepack? Cuz you just got burned!" To add even more impact, try licking your finger and making a sizzling sound.

Diss!
-"Ya know what I'm sayin'?"
No, no one will know what you're saying, but what they will know, is that you sound as cool as a cucumber!

-"Dude, dude, bro . . . bro, bro, dude, dude, bro, dude . . ."
Just see how many times it is physically possible to say this sequence in a convo.  You will thank me.

-"Get down with your bad self."
If you don't understand this, there's clearly something wrong with you.

-"I'm totally buggin . . .  gotta book."
Um hello, let's bring back 90s lingo!

-"yo yo, wazzup my homies?"
Um, no way will you sound like a wannabe black person. Egads, pshaw.

Ok sillies, go out into the world and use the lingo! Have fun!

I'm Back!!!

Hey all, I'm back from the first day of my college adventure. Oh, yeah 5 hours of french a day and an hour in the "language lab" afterwards. Not exactly fun, but strangely easy.
Allow me to explain. This is what would happen in during sophomore year:

Teach: Numero trois, sil-vous plait? Volunteer?
Silence.
T: Victim?
Me: Please don't look at me, hide, hide!!!!!
I duck behind the person in front of me. Unfortunetly, the movement has attracted their attention.
Me: Oh no!!! Eye-contact! Avert gaze!!!
I look away quickly.
Teach: . . . Kyra?
Me: NOOOOOOO!

But in college:
Teach: Kyra!
Me: Je voudrais un coca at un sandwich, sil-vous plait.

The questions are so easy! They're just reviewing what I've already learned. I feel like some sort of super human genius. And sure, maybe I don't have any friends, but neither does anyone else! On our 15 minute breaks, everyone splits up in all different directions on their own.
But wait, here's the best part of college.
I don't have to raise my hand and announce to the class that I have to go to the bathroom. I just leave!!!
So yeah, 3 more weeks and I'm free!!!

College!!!

Hey guys, so this is gong to be a short blog, but I wanted to tell you I'm starting my French 2 course at Community College tomorrow!
I'm taking the course during the summer so that I'll have room for an elective next year. I'm thinking psychology.
I'm really nervous! I'm still in high school so I won't know anybody there and they'll all be older than me.
Plus, I can't do small talk! I melt and turn the color of exploding tomatoes during small talk. Observe:

Nice person: Hey, friend!
Me: ummmm . . . hi.
NP:How are you?
M:I'm-I'm . . . .
NP:Are you ok?
M: Yeah, I'm just-ahhhhhhhh!!!!!
And then I fling my blubbering self out of the door and run outside screaming.
NP:You're what?

Well, I'll tell you how it goes tomorrow.
Souhaitez-moi bonne chance!!!

Merci beaucoup, mes amies!!!

Room Tour!!!

Hey all you stalkers and uber-nosy readers! Inspired by blognifique's most recent post, I would like to show you guys what my room looks like and show you a day in the life of HelloKyra!!!

This is what you see when you first walk into my room. Check out that beautiful view of my fence! If I stand on my tippy toes, I can see even more houses!!!

Then when you turn, you see my bed and random things I've stuck onto my walls!

Here's a close up of one of the snowflakes I put on my wall.

My room's really small and I didn't have room in . . . . my room, so I put a desk in my closet!

Here's a closeup of the shelf in my closet.

My extensive perfume collection.

I keep all my lip glosses and lipsticks in here!

And of course, there's my dog Cookie in his usual spot on my bed.
