I'm Back!!!

Hey all, I'm back from the first day of my college adventure. Oh, yeah 5 hours of french a day and an hour in the "language lab" afterwards. Not exactly fun, but strangely easy.
Allow me to explain. This is what would happen in during sophomore year:

Teach: Numero trois, sil-vous plait? Volunteer?
Silence.
T: Victim?
Me: Please don't look at me, hide, hide!!!!!
I duck behind the person in front of me. Unfortunetly, the movement has attracted their attention.
Me: Oh no!!! Eye-contact! Avert gaze!!!
I look away quickly.
Teach: . . . Kyra?
Me: NOOOOOOO!

But in college:
Teach: Kyra!
Me: Je voudrais un coca at un sandwich, sil-vous plait.

The questions are so easy! They're just reviewing what I've already learned. I feel like some sort of super human genius. And sure, maybe I don't have any friends, but neither does anyone else! On our 15 minute breaks, everyone splits up in all different directions on their own.
But wait, here's the best part of college.
I don't have to raise my hand and announce to the class that I have to go to the bathroom. I just leave!!!
So yeah, 3 more weeks and I'm free!!!

College!!!

Hey guys, so this is gong to be a short blog, but I wanted to tell you I'm starting my French 2 course at Community College tomorrow!
I'm taking the course during the summer so that I'll have room for an elective next year. I'm thinking psychology.
I'm really nervous! I'm still in high school so I won't know anybody there and they'll all be older than me.
Plus, I can't do small talk! I melt and turn the color of exploding tomatoes during small talk. Observe:

Nice person: Hey, friend!
Me: ummmm . . . hi.
NP:How are you?
M:I'm-I'm . . . .
NP:Are you ok?
M: Yeah, I'm just-ahhhhhhhh!!!!!
And then I fling my blubbering self out of the door and run outside screaming.
NP:You're what?

Well, I'll tell you how it goes tomorrow.
Souhaitez-moi bonne chance!!!

Merci beaucoup, mes amies!!!

Room Tour!!!

Hey all you stalkers and uber-nosy readers! Inspired by blognifique's most recent post, I would like to show you guys what my room looks like and show you a day in the life of HelloKyra!!!

This is what you see when you first walk into my room. Check out that beautiful view of my fence! If I stand on my tippy toes, I can see even more houses!!!

Then when you turn, you see my bed and random things I've stuck onto my walls!

Here's a close up of one of the snowflakes I put on my wall.

My room's really small and I didn't have room in . . . . my room, so I put a desk in my closet!

Here's a closeup of the shelf in my closet.

My extensive perfume collection.

I keep all my lip glosses and lipsticks in here!

And of course, there's my dog Cookie in his usual spot on my bed.

Rain, Rain Go Away . . .

Today was one of those rare rainy days in Southern California. Instead of the usual flocking/mobbing of the beach, people sought refuge from the icy 70 degree weather in coffee shops and living rooms. Alas, what is there to do? Sure, Snow White and the Huntsman looks good, but I don't have any money. The mall? Once again, that pesky money problem. So, what does a girl like me, stuck in her house during a bummer summer do for fun? Well, I'm glad you asked.

1.) Read

It doesn't matter what you read. Go to the nearest supermarket and stock up on magazines if you have to (I don't have to, I do this for fun. I'm kind of a magazine addict; People Style Watch, Seventeen, Allure, and even those gossip magazines. I don't know why, but I can never pass up a good ol' fashion police article). You can even read those super cheesy romance novels. No one can see you, you're safe!!!

Hey, put on a shirt, Guy!!!
Allow me to recommend some reading material:
If you never read and hate to, read the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. The books are really exiting and you won't get bored at all, which is the reason I stop reading a book most of the time. The characters are funny and interesting and you never go "Gah, I hate everyone is this whole book, and if they all died I wouldn't care. In fact, I hope they all die, so that the book's over!" What, am I the only one who does that? Alright, the Mortal Instruments everyone!!!

Hey, put a shirt on, Guy!!!
Next up, if you consider yourself a pretty avid reader who can survive a slightly more serious novel, read The Adoration of Jemma Fox. It's soooo good! I won't even describe, just read!

The same people who like TAOJF, would like Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver!

I don't want to be discriminating, so last but not least, if you're a guy reading my blog, or a girl whatever, read I Am the Messenger!!!

2.)  Spend hours watching you tube videos.

3.) Make playlists
This semi-cool hobby has a  kind of embarrassing back story. A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away,  Netflix used to send out DVDs. So basically, everyone in my family would put movies they wanted to watch on the Netflix queue. There wasn't any order, which became a problem when my parents would put whole seasons of 24 on the list. We would get my parent's movies for weeks.
Someone had to step up, and make a fair queue order, but no one wanted to, because the list had amassed so many movies at this point, there were about 50. Finally, I was sick of not getting my Buffy the Vampire Slayer DVDs and organized the list. Two of my parents DVDs would come one week, then one of mine and one of my sister's the next. I spent hours of rearranging and adding movies, but the really sad part was . . . I started to like it!!! I had power over our entertainment and the ability to restore balance to the force. The system was just!!!
Needless to say, Netflix's online movie database has increased immensely and now we don't get DVDs in the mail. So, what do I do? I make playlists! I organize all of my songs in lists according to occasion and mood. It's so fun! In fact, I'll make a special rainy day playlist for you right niow. . . .

-Rain Drops Keep Falling On My Head- Burt Bacharach

-I'm Just A Little Black Rain Cloud- Winnie the Pooh

-I'm Singing In the Rain-Gene Kelly

-She's Thunderstorms-The Arctic Monkeys

-Changing the Rain-The Horrors

-Little April Shower-Bambi

4.) Put on makeup
This form of fun can also double as a procrastination technique if I have homework. Basically this is what happens. I'll look at myself in the mirror and say "Gee, I look like a hag, I need some mascara." So, I'll put on some mascara. "Hmm, maybe a little eyeliner to define my eyes more." I apply eyeliner. "I look absolutely bezitted, I need concealer pronto!" Put on concealer. "Some blush would make me look brighter and more awake." "Wow, I'm so pale, I need bronzer." "How about some lipstick?" Twenty minutes later and I look like a clown.

5.) Last, but not least, write!!! Start your own blog, write stories, whatever!!!

Thanks for reading!!!

I wish I could Afford . . .

Welcome, welcome to the first "I Wish I Could Afford . . . " post on HelloKyra. Have you ever flipped through a magazine to only find all of the clothes are worth hundreds of dollars? Ever searched through tons of websites for that perfect dress, only to find that it's trop chere? Well, been there girlfriend!
Together, we will protest these ridiculous prices, for things that are super cute, but not that cute!!! United we will fight against these oppressive costs, and win our freedom!!!! (or get jobs)

Exhibit A) When a fashion forward girl like myself first observes these edgy and chic leather shoes, she might think she died and went to shoe heaven. Probably because the price made her die of shock!!!! Yeah, I just went there!!! Jeffrey Campbell, $188.

Dresses - Swan in a Million Dress

Exhibit B) Wow! Look at that uniquely modern, yet retro design! But wait a tick (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGDmpk1Ideo), would I really pay $290 for picture of a swan? Burn! Eva Franco, $287.99

Exhibit C) Just looking at these boots launches me into a fantasy where I'm leaping through a field of flowers . . . and stomping on any hopes of buying these shoes. Doc Martens, $110.

Zimmermann Devoted floral-print swimsuit
Exhibit D) Have you ever seen anything so majestic? At least looking at it is free. Zimmermann, $375

DV By Dolce Vita Nettie Chiffon Blouse

Exhibit E) So chic . . . . . . so expensive. DV Dolce Vita, $115.

Yay! My post is complete and who knew making sassy one-liners about pieces of clothing would be so fun?! Cue music!!!!

But in all honesty, be thankful for what you have, because some people may not even have that. Ok you can cut the music now!

If there's something you really want, but just can't buy, comment!!! I would love to hear your stories! And don't forget to follow me!

And as always, thank you for reading my blog and putting up with my jokes! You're such a good friend (that goes out to my only reader, Paige)!!!!!!!

Bye!!!
